Coach Bentley's journey in the world of soccer began with his playing career. He represented the Region IV Olympic Development Team before moving on to play for the University of California Riverside and Yavapai Junior College. Later, he concluded his collegiate career at Corban University. During this time, Bentley also gained valuable experience playing for teams in Germany, including AFC Waldorf, VFL Kircheim, and SC Geislingen.
Transitioning from player to coach, Bentley embarked on a career path marked by dedication and expertise. His coaching journey commenced with roles as an assistant coach at institutions like Grand Canyon University, Corban University, and Cascade Surge. Bentley's commitment to the sport saw him serve as the training director and head coach for the Keizer Soccer Club.
As his coaching career progressed, Bentley's impact became increasingly evident. He assumed the role of director of soccer at Northwest Christian University, where he left an indelible mark on both the men's and women's soccer programs. Under his guidance, the teams achieved remarkable success, setting records for wins and conference points.
Bentley's coaching prowess extended beyond the collegiate level. He served as the lead assistant coach for Lubbock Christian University, contributing to the team's national recognition and impressive statistical achievements. Additionally, Bentley played a pivotal role in the resurgence of the Southern California Seahorses in the Premier Developmental League, showcasing his ability to elevate teams to new heights.
Returning to Adams State for the Spring 2021 season, Bentley resumed his role as head men's soccer coach after previous coaching stints at Waldorf University and the University of Evansville. His impact on the Grizzlies' program was profound, with notable achievements including regional rankings and record-breaking seasons.
During his initial tenure at Adams State, Bentley orchestrated a remarkable transformation, bringing in new talent and achieving unprecedented success on the field. The team's performance under his leadership garnered regional recognition and set the stage for future accomplishments.
Beyond the field, Bentley's commitment to excellence is reflected in his academic achievements. He holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Corban University, complemented by prestigious coaching credentials including a Premier Diploma from the NSCAA and a C License from the United States Soccer Federation.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Bentley has contributed to the development of soccer at various levels, serving as a technical director, strength and conditioning coach, and goalkeeper director for clubs across the United States. His dedication to the sport is further demonstrated through his role as a professor of Exercise Science and Coaching at Grand Canyon University, where he continues to inspire future generations of athletes and coaches.
